ABC WEDNESDAY - J

J IS FOR JAPANESE

These paper cranes are an example of the ancient Japanese craft of origami.

There is an old Japanese legend that states if you fold a thousand paper cranes, you will get your wish.

I love those cranes. . . I have a green and white one like yours! Mine has a name on it -- Jean Roger, age 24. . . she died in the 9/11 attacks. I picked this up at a paper craft store shortly after 9/11 and I pray for Jean's family each time I see it on my bookshelf.

You made a great choice and if you folded all those cranes, I am jealous!

I do like that colorful photo and the idea behind the cranes. I'm thinking that you might have folded them, Susan.

Beautiful picture, but I don't know whether I would have the patience for folding 1000 times...

I find origami a great art and enjoy doing it. Somehow I relax whilst folding these papers. The only thing is that here in Malta one does not find coloured and patterned origami papers :(. Great colours ;)

p.s. I must also stress out that it takes me ages to fold in the proper way when I am following instructions !!
